Elite: The New Kind is a conversion of Acornsoft’s Elite, the classic space trading and combat game. Elite was originally written by Ian Bell and David Braben and published by Acornsoft in 1984 on the BBC Micro and Acorn Electron.

Elite: The New Kind was written by Christian Pinder and released for the Microsoft Windows platform in 2001. It was ported by numerous Elite enthusiasts to many other platforms including GNU/Linux, GameBoy Advance, GP32, OpenBSD, Mac OS X, BE OS, Atari ST, PalmOS, PocketPC and Raspberry Pi.
